The Power Rangers ACG unboxings have prove to be popular among my viewers, so I decided to break into the Pokémon TCG scene (well…is it really breaking into if I’ve played this game since the beginning?) with an unboxing review of the Plasma Blast Elite Trainer Box. The box retails for $39.99 at most major retailers, but don’t let the price scare you, the contents are more than worth it. Pokémon has taken a cue out of Magic’s playbook (they used to be siblings, so its not surprising). Magic has a “Fat Pack” which features a slew of packs and game playing accessories. The Elite Trainer Box is Pokémon’s answer to the Fat Pack. Included are 8 (already a $32 value) Booster Packs, 40 Energy Cards, 4 dividers, 65 card sleeves, 6 small damage counter dice, 1 flippable clear die, an acrylic poison marker, and an acrylic burn marker, not to mention a sturdy, durable box with a really nice looking Genesect on it. Also included is a “Player’s Guide” that explains some cards, shows off every card in the set, and has some adverts and such. Considering the packs and sleeves alone are a $40 value, everything else you get is a bonus, and well worth it. Plasma Storm had a ETB as well, but the Plasma Blast release ups the price by $5, includes one additional pack, and includes dividers and sleeves as opposed to an awful cardboard deck box. I’d rather pay the $5 and get much nicer product than what the Plasma Storm box gave us. All in all, this is a great box for newbies and veteran TCG players a like. The box literally gives you everything you need to start playing (besides the main deck obviously) and is well worth the price in supplies. I REALLY hope this is a setly thing. Love it, and I can’t wait for more.
