Review: Fighting Action Robo Joushakanryo!! ToQ-Oh (Ressha Sentai ToQger)

Fighting Action Robo Joushakanryo!! ToQ-Oh
Candy Toy – April, 2014 – ¥1,200

Get your Fighting Action Robo ToQ-Oh from CSToys International!

Fighting Action Robo is a Bandai Candy Toy line that takes mecha and converts them into a small posable form. In April, 2014, for a price ranging anywhere from ¥650 on AmiAmi to ¥1,200 on CSToys is none other than the main mecha from ToQger, the Fighting Action Robo Joushakanryo!! ToQ-Oh! This version of ToQ-Oh measures roughly 4.5″ tall. While he doesn’t fit in scale with a whole lot else, he should scale well to any sort of 5″ kaiju line, or something like the Ultra Monster series. Included with the figure is the Fumikiriken, which has pegs in both places to swap between Sword Mode and Gun Mode, though the length of the toy is more suited to be displayed in Sword Mode. For a fairly cheap toy, the painting isn’t all that bad. Naturally, being a Candy Toy, you’re going to have a flat black back featuring a whole lot of nothing, but from the front, given ToQ-Oh’s already colorful yet bland appearance, the toy covers most of it. The head sculpt in general is pretty nice, and painted great. The toy consists mostly of balljoints at the head, shoulders, hips, and feet, with single joints at the elbows and knees. Swivels at the wrists, elbows, and waist complete the set of articulation for this guy. It’s honestly really awesome. As someone who doesn’t really like Minipla due to the sticker count (I’m not a painter, and the stickers I’ve always had issue with staying on), this sort of toy is perfect for me. It’s small, posable, and a nice little desk toy to show my love for the robo. If you are on a budget and can’t get the DX, or just don’t have the space, and the Minipla isn’t your thing, check out the Fighting Action Robo. As of right now, there are no set releases for the future, but I really hope they change their minds. I really want more.
