Unboxing: 1Up Box – July, 2015 “Justice”

I was contacted by the kind folks at 1Up Box to become a 1Up Box Ambassador and show you guys what 1Up Box is all about! 1Up Box is a subscription box service that began in September, 2014 in a style that is very similar to Loot Crate, priding themselves as “a distributor that offers something remarkable, something creative, and something unique in which all geeks and gamers can fancy.” With a name like 1Up Box you would expect a focus on gaming, but the boxes have shown that 1Up Box plans to take gaming as a core, and give it a bit of a pop culture spin. Each 1Up Box is only $12.92 plus $6 shipping and handling. Boxes can also be subscribed to in three month and six month plans for added savings. Each Box is promised to include over $30 of merchandise totaling 4-6 items on average. Plus an exclusive shirt is always included! As mentioned, each month will follow a particular theme at the core.

July, 2015’s Theme: Justice

• “SUper Rangers” T-Shirt
• Justice League Wind Ups (Batman)
• TMNT Turtle Topper (Leo)
• Batman Super Hero Shades
• Justice Temporary Tattoos
• Princess 007 Magnet
• Justice Theme Pin
THIS SHIRT THOUGH. I love Mario, I love Power Rangers. Even if I’m sick of MMPR if you through those damn things together I’m just going to instantly love it, and I do. It’s a great shirt. The Batman wind up toy is sort of neat, as are the shades, even though I’ll never wear them out in public. Mostly because I never wear sunglasses that aren’t my prescription kind. Being a glasses kid does that. Anywho, the TMNT pencil topper is impractical, but I’m sure I can find something around the house to stick it on to add a little geek to something. Maybe he’ll balance on top of my computer. The magnet and temporary tattoos I can live without. The magnet is moderately funny at least, even though I don’t really get the point. Overall though, the shirt won it for me, and the wind up and pencil topper gave it some bonus points. Not the greatest box, but certainly the greatest shirt.
As with any of these subscription services, they aren’t for everyone. However, 1Up Box is currently the cheapest box on the market at only $12.92 before shipping. While you don’t get as much as you would in a Nerd Block or Loot Crate, you still more than get your money’s worth. In essence, it’s a great box for those that are on a little bit of a tighter budget, but still want to experience the joy of receiving that box in the mail. With them doing themes, you once again have the benefit of having a rough idea of what’s in store, to know if you want to get that month’s box or not. For those of you that can’t stomach the act of random goodies, well, these just aren’t for you.
