The “Collection” Boxes are a series of promotional sets that take one Pokémon, usually one predominately featured in a set, and toss them into a themed box. Each box contains four Booster Packs, a promo card, an online code card for said promo card, and most importantly a beautifully crafted figure of that Pokémon. Each box retails for $19.99 at most major retailers, depending on where you pick it up. XY: BREAKthrough brought us an immediate release of two collections at once, one featuring Mega Mewtwo X, and one featuring Mega Mewtwo Y. While the promos (XY100 and XY101) are just the same card with new art, the art is definitely cool, and I like how one features a blue tint while the other features red. While the promos are neat, the figures are where these sets shine. We have gotten a slew of figures over the course of the TCG, they continue to impress at the level of quality found in every release. These are no different, with the Mega Mewtwo Y release in particular being beautiful on display. At $19.99, you’re essentially paying $3-$4 for the promo and the figure, a price I’m more than willing to pay for something of such quality. They do a remarkable job with these, and I can’t wait for more.
