I was contacted by the kind folks at 1Up Box to become a 1Up Box Ambassador and show you guys what 1Up Box is all about! 1Up Box is a subscription box service that began in September, 2014 in a style that is very similar to Loot Crate, priding themselves as “a distributor that offers something remarkable, something creative, and something unique in which all geeks and gamers can fancy.” With a name like 1Up Box you would expect a focus on gaming, but the boxes have shown that 1Up Box plans to take gaming as a core, and give it a bit of a pop culture spin. Each 1Up Box is only $12.92 plus $6 shipping and handling. Boxes can also be subscribed to in three month and six month plans for added savings. Each Box is promised to include over $30 of merchandise totaling 4-6 items on average. Plus an exclusive shirt is always included! As mentioned, each month will follow a particular theme at the core.

Contents of July, 2016’s box, as well as my unboxing video are after the jump.

July, 2016’s Theme: Squad

• “Super Smash Squad” Shirt
• Harley Quinn POP Vinyl (Batman: Arkham Knight)
• Marksman Air Freshener (Deadshot)
• Paranormal Dog Tag (Ghostbusters)
• Space Guardians Poster (Guardians of the Galaxy)
• “Squad” Pin

With me jumping into the world of DC pretty heavy the past year, the themed obviously meant to hype Suicide Squad was pretty thrilling. Again in a situation where the shirt and the POP Vinyl are the best things in the box. I’ve been in this rodeo long enough to where dog tags and air fresheners don’t really do it for me. The poster is a really cheap product to include, but given each one is a unique piece made by a fan artist, They have a pretty neat quality to them that I enjoy, even if most don’t get hung up. That being said, Deadshot is cool, and the Ghostbusters tag is cute, so they’re not a total bust, just something I don’t really have a huge thrill over. I would have loved to get Arkham Knight as the POP Vinyl (the design is cool) but Harley is a nice addition to the display. The shirt is the real winner for me. I’m pretty hype on Suicide Squad right now, so a mash up with Mario is wonderful, though I really wish Daisy were Katana instead. Ah well.
