Review: ClawZord – Zord Vehicle Version (Power Rangers Super Samurai)

ClawZord with Samurai Ranger Light
Zord Vehicle
$14.99 at Most Major Retailers ($19.99 at Toys R Us)

The Zord Vehicle line has been dormant since the release of the SharkZord last wave. Now, with the Super Samurai toys hitting the shelves, we have a new bunch of Zord Vehicles: ClawZord, LightZord, a re-release of the OctoZord, and the (not yet released) ScorpionZord. Today we take a look at the Zord Vehicles take on the ClawZord. He is available at most major retailers like Walmart and K-Mart for around $14.99. He is also available at Toys R Us for a more pricy $19.99. Many of you may question why this toy exists. Other than the ability to act as “toy line fluff” to cover the whole “one season is two years” thing, plus the desire for them to remold the body of this toy into a “ScorpionZord” for Deker, I have no idea. However, as an Antonio (and ClawZord) fan, I’m glad it was made! The toy is pretty basic, featuring little to no paint applications sans the few that are 100% necessary. The included Gold Ranger figure can’t really stand on his own, and is the most poorly painted toy in this line so far, with the Barracuda Blade being cast in gold with no paint, and his boots being cast in blue with no paint. The head under the mask looks nothing like Antonio, and it honestly looks like he is on drugs. The toy, when rolled across a surface, claps its pincers together. That’s it. It can also become an arm for the Samurai Megazord, Samurai ClawZord, or Bull Megazord (as well as becoming a helmet for the Samurai Megazord). Overall, unless you are a huge Gold Ranger fan, this is the easiest skip this line has brought us. If you really want this mold, I would wait for the upcoming ScorpionZord, as it is essentially a new Zord, and shares this toys base body and gimmick. However, if you’re a Gold Ranger fan, it’s probably worth the pickup.
