Unboxing: Pokémon TCG – Primal Groudon & Primal Kyogre Collections

Pokémon TCG – Primal Groudon & Primal Kyogre Collections
$19.99 Each at Most Major Retailers

To continue the celebration of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, The Pokémon Company International put together two new “Collection” boxes featuring Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Each set features a figure and XY Black Star Promo of Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre, as well as four Booster Packs (two Primal Clash, one Phantom Forces, and one Furious Fists). The figures included with these sets were pre-order bonuses in Japan for the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire 3DS games. Each collection retails for $19.99 and is available at most major retailers.

The Primal Kyogre Collection includes a nice Primal Kyogre figure. Unfortunately, it is posed as if it was coming out of the ocean, meaning you really only get half a figure. That figure stands roughly two inches in height, and just looks great. It features clear parts that remind me of a jellyfish, and just looks wonderful on display. Also included is XY51, a holofoil Kyogre promo card.

The Primal Groudon Collection features a really beautiful Primal Groudon figure. The figure is small, around two inches in height, but the detail is remarkable. Like Kyogre, Groudon is coming out of the magma, so you really only get half a figure. Regardless, it looks nice. Also included is XY52, a holofoil Groudon promo card.

For $19.99, I view these as much better of a deal compared to the “EX Box” promotional boxes. Instead of a useless jumbo card, you get a figure that you can sit on your desk or shelf, that is beautifully crafted. Same amount of promos, same amount of boosters, but a much nicer perk.
