To transform into the Zyuohgers, Yamato and the Zyumans use the Zyuoh Changers, reformed versions of the Champion’s Symbol. The Zyuoh Changer itself is a phone based transformation device that resembles a Rubix Cube of all things, fitting the cube theme the series. The top layer of the three layer cube can rotate, completing one of the three symbols located on the other two layers. On the inside you have 12 total pressable buttons: Cube Summon, Transform, Combine, then the numbers 1-9. Each function activates different sounds depending on which buttons are pressed, for quite a few sounds right out of the box. With no gimmicks to collect and use, the toy has all its functions right away, ready for the enjoyment. The toy also includes mini figures of the five Zyuohgers. They don’t function with the toy, and are just an added bonus. The Zyuoh Changer was released in February, 2016 for around ¥4,300.

The middle red button activates the transformation mode. Pressing that button, closing the lid, and rotating the top so the red symbol is complete will activate a five-person transformation sound, with the LED illuminating all five colors with all five animal sounds. Pressing a button afterwards will give you the call of the team. Likewise, if you hit the red button and press numbers 1-6, you will get the transformation noises for Eagle, Shark, Lion, Elephant, Tiger, and Gorilla respectively. Pressing a button after transformation will give you the name of the Zyuohger you chose. 7-9 plays a default transformation noise.

The yellow button activates the Cube Summoning mode. Rotate the top portion of the cube so the yellow symbol is complete. Pressing that button, followed by a button 1-6 will give you the summoning call for Cube Eagle, Cube Shark, Cube Lion, Cube Elephant, Cube Tiger, and Cube Gorilla respectively. Each call illuminates the LED in that respective color. 7-9 will activate a generic “Zyuoh Cube!” summoning sound.

Finally the blue button activates the combination mode. Rotate the top portion of the cube so the blue symbol is complete. Any sort of combination 1-9 will activate a generic combination sound, unless a combination is an actual possible combination of Zyuoh King, Zyuoh Wild, or Wild Zyuoh King. Any possible combination using Cube Eagle will result in Zyuoh King. Any possible combination using Cube Gorilla will result in Zyuoh Wild. Pressing 1-6 together will add Kirin and Mogura to the mix and create Wild Zyuoh King.

The Zyuoh Changer is a super fun toy. We haven’t had a main changer be gimmickless since Go-Busters, and it’s a nice return to what Sentai Changers always were. All the functions are active right out of the box, giving you a TON of sounds to mess around with. It’s fun to flip the top around to activate the sounds, and the sounds themselves are really fun to listen to. If you’re a fan of the series so far, I can’t commend this enough.
