The “Trainer Kits” are a line of product that The Pokémon Company releases around once a year that feature two 30 card decks features around two seemingly random Pokémon that are built to show off the basics of the game. Completely new players can play a prebuilt scenario, following a “script” after stacking the deck in a certain order. When players are ready, they can try an unscripted game, and then move on to things like Theme Decks.
2016’s Trainer Kit brings us Pikachu Libre and Suicune, two of the Pokémon in the roster of Pokken Tournament for Wii U, meant to advertise the game and cross promote. This marks the first time a Cosplay Pikachu form has made it into the TCG. Unfortunately both cards are pretty subpar and nothing to write home about. At $9.99, there’s nothing to really warrant a player picking this up, but collectors might want to make the purchase for the four exclusive cards, or the fact that each card in this box is uniquely numbered.
