Review: Figma – Link (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)

Figma – Link (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)

Zelda is, and always will be, one of my favorite video game series. After Samus’s absolutely awesome Figma release, after a month delay, Link was finally released in November of 2012 for roughly ¥3,600 depending on the retailer. It didn’t see a domestic release like Samus thanks to Diamond Connect not getting the proper license to release the figure. This Link is based off of the model from Skyward Sword, but still makes an excellent stand in for Link on your shelf regardless of your thoughts on Skyward Sword. On top of having incredible amounts of articulation, Link also comes with a plethora of display options. Included with Link is the Master Sword, sheath, slash effect part, Hylian Shield, eight additional hands, a Figma stand, and Figma branded bag to store your parts in. The sheath pegs in on the back, however the size of the Master Sword and sheath make it a bit difficult to position properly without the tip of the handle batting into his hat. In typical Zelda fashion, you can even move the handle of the Hylian Shield to the middle, and slide it onto the sheath to store the shield on his back. The handle of the shield can also be placed on the left or right hand side, allowing Link to hold it in either hand. This allows you to position Link as a left-handed fighter (pretty much every Link ever) or a right-handed fighter (Twilight Princes Wii and Skyward Sword). The effect part slides right over the Master Sword, and looks really cool in a display if that is your kind of thing. The additional hair and face pieces allow you to put him in some fighting stances while adding a little bit of realistic flair. Overall, if you’re a fan of Zelda, you shouldn’t go without this figure. Despite being tied to a certain rendition of Link, it’s the most current design from a game that many really loved. Even if you didn’t enjoy Skyward Sword, the figure is still fantastic, and does a wonderful game series quite a bit of justice. Next on the list is Pit and Dark Pit from Kid Icarus Uprising. After that? The sky’s the limit. Absolutely recommended.
