The auxiliary Zord line continues in Dino Charge featuring the alternate arm Zords seen in the show. These retail for $16.99 at Toys R Us, but the price may very at other retailers. Our first two releases are the Para Zord and Raptor Zord, the Zords belonging to the Black and Green Dino Charge Rangers. Despite being a part of the core team, the two don’t directly connect to the Dino Charge Megazord, and instead act as alternate arms. This creates a really unique setup in both the toys and the show. The Zords are the Power Ranger releases of Parasagun and Zakutor from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. Included with the Para Zord is a Para Charger, while the Raptor Zord comes with a Raptor Charger. Each Charger can be inserted into the Zords just like the show. Unfortunately the mouths of the Zords can’t close with the Chargers inserted. The Chargers can also be used in the Dino Charge Morpher to unlock new transformation and attack sounds. Each Zord is painted pretty well, with all the key details painted in. Zords haven’t been known for good paint, but thankfully that has changed. The Zords no longer come with crappy figures to ride them, so the budget is freed up for some bigger, better Zords in the line! Both Zords have the same base mold, and transform the same. Oddly enough, the transformation has changed since the show and Japanese versions, which is a little strange. However, they still form pretty solid arms, even if they look a tad different. They can be inserted into the arm slots of the T. Rex Zord to create new formations of the Dino Charge Megazord.

Overall, I really like these releases. The crappy molded and crappy painted non-posable toys that always came with the Zords clearly cut into the paint budget previously, as these Zords are not only built solid, but contain all the key paint details I would expect in a release at this price point. I’m also really glad that the Zords include Chargers, even though they don’t really add much playability to the Zords, and the Chargers can be found in other toys. Despite that, I really dig these, and I’m glad the auxiliary Zords are finally getting some quality releases.
