The next set in our Pokémon journey is XY: Ancient Origins, a set that brings us the new Pokémon Hoopa to the forefront, along with a bunch of other amazing Mega Pokémon, Pokémon-EX, and even some great holos and rares as well. It’s been a while since a set put so many deck ideas into my head, but Ancient Origins has certainly did the trick. Machamp-EX, M Tyranitar-EX, M Ampharos-EX, Golurk, Vespiquen, the list goes on. Thankfully our box gave me quite a bit to work with, though most of the testing will certainly happen on TCGO. We also take a look at the two Theme Decks for this set, Iron Tide, featuring Metagross, and Stone Heart, featuring Regirock. Neither deck is all that great, and doesn’t include a whole lot of worthwhile cards to make the purchase worth it. As usual, if you want to get a whole bunch of cards, buying a box for $90-$100 is the way to go, with filling out what you need by purchasing singles. XY: Ancient Origins is a great set, and well worth the look at for some new and creative decks.
